Strengthening Community Through Table Tennis and Bitcoin
Strengthening Community Through Table Tennis and Bitcoin
The Bitcoin District Initiative (BDI) has teamed up with the Washington DC Table Tennis Academy (WDCTT) to launch the Orange Ball Classic, a unique tournament fundraiser that bridges the gap between the DC Bitcoin community and local athletics. This partnership goes beyond immediate fundraising by establishing a long-term Bitcoin Treasury for the Academy, ensuring that their nonprofit programs—which promote life skills, brain health, and community connection across generations—have a secure and growing financial reserve to sustain their impact for years to come.
The Orange Ball Classic: Building Community Through Table Tennis and Bitcoin The Bitcoin District Initiative is proud to partner with the Washington DC Table Tennis Academy (WDCTT) to create the Orange Ball Classic, an initiative designed to foster local Bitcoin adoption while securing the future of community-focused nonprofits. This partnership serves a dual purpose: it fuels BDI’s mission to spread Bitcoin education across the DMV and provides the WDCTT Academy with the tools to achieve lasting financial independence.
By dedicating a portion of all tournament proceeds to a long-term Bitcoin reserve, we are helping the Academy transition from a traditional fundraising model to a strategy of sovereign wealth building. These funds support the Academy’s vital nonprofit work, which uses table tennis as a vehicle to improve mental health, teach discipline, and strengthen social ties in Washington, DC. Through hands-on technical support—such as integrating Lightning Network payments for onsite events—we are empowering the Academy to embrace Bitcoin as a high-performance asset that will grow alongside their community programs for generations.
